Analyst, SC Process Automation & Innovation

Overall Job Summary

This position acts as the voice of innovation for cross-functional strategic supply chain initiatives focused on balancing cost, service, and capacity across the network. By leveraging continuous improvement methodologies, advanced analytics, and automation/AI-driven solutions, this role will analyze current practices and design, build, and implement scalable technology-enabled improvements. This position will drive implementation of changes that increase workflow efficiency, reduce manual effort, and lower overall landed cost. Working cross-functionally with business, IT, and data teams, this role will deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and service while accelerating the adoption of AI capabilities across the Supply Chain organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Leverage supply chain expertise and data analysis to support cross-functional projects and initiatives, including evaluation of current state, future state design, ROI analysis, and change management, with a focus on identifying and developing automation and AI-enabled opportunities.
  • Design, build, and deploy automation and AI-enabled workflows using tools such as Power Automate, Custom GPTs, Copilot Studio, Alteryx/Knime, n8n, and other technologies to solve business problems and improve operational efficiency 
  • Analyze end-to-end supply chain processes using data and process mapping tools to identify automation and optimization opportunities, develop improved processes, and translate those into working solutions and tools that can be deployed across the network. Develop, maintain, and execute a Process Automation Roadmap.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate on solutions, moving from concept to pilot to scaled deployment with a focus on delivering measurable business value
  • Support and lead Lean/Kaizen events through Tractor Supply’s ‘Tractor Value System’ structure, incorporating automation and digital solutions where applicable.
  • Partner with IT, data, and digital teams to develop, prioritize, and execute supply chain initiatives; translate business requirements into technical solutions and support delivery as a business owner.
  • Lead the data extraction, analysis, and modeling to support business cases; develop financial justifications, track benefits, and validate ROI for automation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support the planning, testing, and deployment of supply chain technologies, automation tools, and analytics solutions; assist in piloting and scaling solutions across the network.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and performance tracking tools to measure the impact and adoption of implemented solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies and recommend new tools or approaches

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 3+ years of direct experience in supply chain (preferably retail); Combination of experience and education will be considered.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Supply Chain/Logistics preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to create working solutions (e.g., automated workflows, dashboards, or AI-enabled tools) that reduce manual effort and improve decision-making
  • Exposure to API integrations
    Working knowledge and application of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen), with the ability to apply these principles to technology-enabled solutions
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large, complex datasets across multiple systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, data analysis)
  • Experience with SQL or similar tools for data extraction and manipulation
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI (or similar)
  • Experience with Alteryx or similar tools for data preparation and workflow automation preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (e.g., Power Automate, Power Apps) or other automation tools
  • Exposure to programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBA) preferred
  • Experience leveraging AI tools (ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to enhance productivity, analysis, and workflow efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable insights and drive process improvements
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a focus on execution and results
  • Ability to work overtime and travel up to 30%
