Director, Finance

Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading the financial business intelligence and decision support for critical functions of the business. This position is also responsible for long range budget planning and tracking macroeconomic indicators and their impact on the business segment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Lead enterprise-wide analytical, budgeting, forecasting, and decision support for Merchandising and Marketing
  • Develop business analyses that address financial, operational and accounting implications, pinpoint key drivers and identify short and long term action steps that focus on current and future business implications and communicate to senior leadership and/or the board of directors.
  • Provide analytical support to senior management for quarterly investor conference calls and preparation of the financial package for the board of directors
  • Partner with leadership on high-profile strategic projects, including Capital Allocation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Clearance, Store Labor Productivity, and Technology updates
  • Provide high-level strategic support to senior business leaders and Merchandising, Marketing, and Inventory Planning departments in contract negotiations, business reviews and forecasts.
  • Oversee complex financial analyses utilizing cash flow/ROI spreadsheet models as well as other analytical tools (including DCF, NPV and IRR) to support significant business and investment decisions.
  • Develop and report special financial and statistical studies in coordination with other departments

Required Qualifications

Experience: 8 years of related business or retail experience.    

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate business related field of study.  MBA or an advanced degree preferred.  Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Demonstrated strong communication, leadership, analytical and team building skills
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products with knowledge of Business Objects and Cognos preferred.
