Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for performing support functions in the daily operations of a legal division by reviewing, gathering, organizing and processing information relevant to case files. Research into governmental and financial regulations by which the organization must abide.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Review, track, and monitor legislation that impacts the company’s products and/or processes
- Assists in implementing changes to contracts to comply with legislation/regulations
- Assist with paperwork needed by the SEC, IRS, UCC and other regulatory bodies
- Ensure the organization operates within the legal requirements set forth by local, state and federal regulations regarding trade, governance and employee rights
- Prepare legal documents and case components - including affidavits, pleadings, appeals, briefs and closings for attorneys - as well as assisting lawyers with drafting a variety of contracts
- Partner with members of the legal team on special projects and initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3 plus years’ experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: Paralegal Certificate preferred
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Solid Microsoft Office skills; drafting skills; detail oriented
- Capable of creating templates and forms for documents and collecting metrics
- Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, confidentiality, and collaboration
