General Accounting Manager

Overall Job Summary

    This position is responsible for leading a significant portion of the fixed assets team specific to construction and leasing.  Duties to ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual financial results are accurate, timely and complete.     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Oversee the accounting for assets tied to store construction activities.
  • Manage the application and ongoing maintenance of lease accounting standards in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Perform technical accounting research, prepare memos and process documentation related to ASC 842.
  • Supervise the updating and maintenance of internal control documentation and testing in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley across owned processes.
  • Support the activities of both internal and external auditors throughout the year by providing requested documentation, explanations for large or unusual transactions, and communication of critical accounting processes.
  • Research and analyze accounting issues, such as the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure the company's accounting practices are in compliance.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and monthly forecasts for selected accounts.
  • Mentor, train, and develop a team of professional and clerical Fixed Assets Accounting team members

Qualifications

5+ years of experience required
Bachelor's degree is preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred

High Demand IT Specialized Skills

  • Experience in Lucernex preferred.
  • Experience in SAP preferred.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Public accounting knowledge is desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high energy and fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and new accounting developments.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, analytical and teambuilding skills.
  • Ability to build strong partner and interdepartmental relationships.
  • Ability to self-motivate, work with a sense of urgency and prioritize tasks.
