Overall Job Summary

Tractor Supply Company is currently hiring for our 2027 Information Technology Development Program (ITDP) at our Store Support Center in Brentwood, TN! 

 

The Information Technology Development Program (ITDP) is a 12-month rotational training program designed for early career professionals to learn the foundations of technology in a leading retail business. Through hands-on opportunities and intentional development, trainees will build an understanding of the skills and attributes needed to start their Information Technology career within Tractor Supply Company while contributing to our Mission, Values, and culture.

 

Trainees will rotate through the following areas – Information Security, Digital, AI and Data Analytics, and IT Operations – over the course of the program. Each rotation combines hands-on experience, structured learning, mentorship, and meaningful project work. Trainees will develop a strong understanding of Tractor Supply’s business, culture, technology landscape, and IT operations while building technical capabilities, business acumen, and cross-functional relationships to prepare for future career opportunities within the nation’s largest rural lifestyle retailer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Complete structured rotations across Information Technology functions within the Store Support Center to gain broad exposure to Tractor Supply’s technology environment, business operations, and IT capabilities.
  • Partner with and shadow IT professionals to understand technology processes, systems, development practices, operational workflows, and how technology supports business objectives.
  • Contribute to business and technology initiatives through guided, hands-on assignments, projects, and rotational responsibilities.
  • Build foundational technical knowledge and experience across areas such as application development, cybersecurity and privacy, artificial intelligence, data and analytics, infrastructure, networks, cloud technologies, and IT operations.
  • Apply technical concepts, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities, troubleshoot issues, and support solutions to business challenges.
  • Participate in individual and group development sessions focused on technical capabilities and professional skills, including communication, public speaking, change management, strategic thinking, collaboration, and personal accountability.
  • Demonstrate continued growth through successful completion of program assignments, assessments, rotational objectives, and meaningful contributions to assigned teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical partners across Information Technology and the broader organization.
  • Create, maintain, and execute an Individual Development Plan in partnership with the Program Mentor. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related technology discipline.
  • Internal candidates with equivalent education and/or relevant experience will be considered.
  • Previous internship, co-op, project, or work experience within Information Technology or a related technical field.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts, technologies, and business processes.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • High degree of intellectual curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and personal drive.
  • Foundational understanding of information technology concepts, including software development, cybersecurity, data and analytics, infrastructure, networking, cloud technologies, or IT operations.
  • Foundational programming, scripting, or technical development knowledge with an interest in expanding technical capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze technical and business challenges, evaluate information, and contribute to practical solutions.
  • Exposure to APIs, application development, databases, automation, testing, artificial intelligence, cloud platforms, or other technology tools and environments.
  • Interest in understanding how emerging technologies can be applied to improve business processes and customer or Team Member experiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accountability for assigned work.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies, tools, systems, and business processes across multiple areas of Information Technology.
  • Ability to adapt to different teams, technical environments, and responsibilities throughout a rotational development program.
