Lead Engineer, IT Store Sys

Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for designing, engineering, and supporting complex mixed technology environments to support retail store solutions.  Additional responsibilities include technical leadership, mentors other team members, and lead projects. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Work with both internal and external customers to understand business requirements and needs. 
  • Design maintainable solutions to meet business and compliance requirements through creation and application of best practices to ensure consistency, maintainability, and compliance. 
  • Participate in 24x7 on call rotations. 
  • Deploy new solution and configurations. 
  • Ensure service availability through creation and delivery of KPI reports. 
  • Maintain and manages technical relationships with vendors. 
  • Discover current technical standards and best practices (R&D). 
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor other team members, and lead projects. 
  • Deploy patches, updates, and configuration changes. 
  • Create and document engineering standards. 
     

Required Qualifications

Experience: 10+ years enterprise experience in selected technology field.  Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology.  Technical publications preferred. 

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.  Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.  

Professional Certifications: Technical Certification in related field is preferred. 
 

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Container and Platform services (Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD Pipeline)
  • Knowledge of one or more Scripting Languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with Hyper-converged Platforms (Nutanix)
  • Microsoft and Linux based Operating systems.
  • Practice engineering practices such as DevOps
  • Experience with at least one Virtualization services(Vmware, Azure, AHV)
  • Development experience with at least one infrastructure automation tool such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • Assist in creating robust, scalable, and high-quality automation solutions for Store infrastructure while mentoring other less experienced engineers.

  • Must be able to work some nights and weekends
  • Occasional travel required
