Manager, Income Tax

Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for the Company's overall federal, state and local income tax and payroll tax compliance and tax accounting. These responsibilities include regular review of the income tax laws and regulations of the U.S., the states, and the localities in which the company conducts business for both income and payroll taxes, identification of areas where the Company could be affected, and the implementation of updated processes to accommodate any changes.  This position is also responsible for managing the company's unclaimed property and state annual report filing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Manages the income tax compliance process including the accurate and timely filing of the consolidated federal return, various state and local returns, quarterly estimates, and extensions. 35%
  • Oversees the preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 and calculate and maintain FIN 48 documentation. 25%
  • Supports tax forecasting and planning efforts by identifying and responding to business and tax law changes, to the extent they impact compliance and account.  10% 
  • Manages the tax accounting treatment and calculation for items such as excess compensation, leasing, and fixed assets. 10%
  • Manages all income tax and unclaimed property audits including the review of the notice resolution log.  10%
  • Reviews the state unclaimed property filings, related monthly reconciliations, and journal entries. 5%
  • Manages the business annual report renewal process with the Secretaries of State in all states of operation. 5%         
  • May perform other duties as assigned *

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 6 years direct tax experience in a public accounting or corporate environment working directly in multi-state income taxation is required. 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar course of study. Master's degree in Taxation or a Accounting with (tax emphasis) is preferred.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

A CPA or Enrolled Agent certification is preferred.  Knowledge in the use of tax software is required with knowledge of OneSource tax software preferred
