Manager, Talent and Leadership Development | Stores & Petsense
Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for developing and executing learning and enablement strategies that build Team Member capability and support business performance across Tractor Supply Stores and Petsense. The role partners with HR Business Partners, Store Operations, Petsense leaders, and cross-functional partners to identify performance needs and translate business priorities into scalable learning and enablement solutions. Primary areas of responsibility include onboarding and operational excellence for Tractor Supply Stores, and onboarding, operational excellence, product knowledge, and leadership development for Petsense.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Learning & Enablement Strategy. Develop and execute learning and enablement strategies aligned to business priorities for Tractor Supply Stores and Petsense. Consult with HR Business Partners, business leaders, and cross-functional partners to identify performance needs, recommend the right approach, and ensure solutions are practical, role-relevant, scalable, and connected to business outcomes.
- Store Operations Enablement. Lead onboarding and operational excellence strategies for Tractor Supply Stores. Partner with business owners and subject matter experts to equip Team Members to perform effectively in role, execute safe, consistent, and efficient operations, and deliver Legendary Service.
- Petsense Learning & Enablement. Lead onboarding, operational excellence, product knowledge, and leadership development strategies for Petsense, strengthening role readiness, operational execution, product confidence, Customer conversations, and leadership capability.
- Solution Design, Implementation & Continuous Improvement. Translate business needs into learning journeys, enablement plans, tools, resources, and experiences; guide implementation across appropriate channels. Establish measures of success, evaluate effectiveness and business impact, identify gaps, and improve solutions based on results and feedback.
- Cross-Functional & Partner Leadership. Build strong partnerships with HR Business Partners, business leaders, subject matter experts, Store Communications, technology partners, and other enterprise teams to align priorities and drive execution. Manage relevant vendor, faculty, and consultant relationships, including contracting and ensuring solutions are appropriately Tractorized and aligned to business needs.
Required Qualifications
Design and Development Experience: Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and delivering learning solutions using Articulate and other learning and design software.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in learning and development, talent development, organizational development, performance consulting, enablement, or a related field, with demonstrated experience developing and implementing learning strategies and leading complex, cross-functional initiatives. Retail, multi-unit, store operations, or other customer-facing experience preferred.
Education: Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development, Organizational Development, Adult Education, Business, or a related field preferred. Any suitable combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and performance consulting, with the ability to apply them to practical business needs and outcomes.
- Ability to develop learning and enablement strategies that connect business priorities, Team Member capability, and measurable business results.
- Strong organizational development, project management, problem-solving, consulting, and influencing skills; able to diagnose needs, recommend the right intervention, and lead stakeholders toward effective solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, navigate changing business needs, coordinate cross-functional resources, and deliver against deadlines.
- Ability to lead complex initiatives from strategy through implementation, including stakeholder alignment, change and enablement planning, measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Effective facilitation and presentation skills across classroom, virtual, and business meeting settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with Team Members, business partners, and senior leaders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data, feedback, and business measures to evaluate effectiveness, identify gaps, and inform recommendations.
- Experience with learning technologies and learning management systems preferred.
