Merch Planning Analyst
Overall Job Summary
The Merchandise Planning Analyst is responsible for department reporting and analysis, providing data driven insights to assist the merchandise planning team. Tools and capabilities should be focused on enhancing insights into sales, margin and inventory performance across store locations and merchandise product lines. The Planning Analyst will also serve as an expert in the Merchandise Planning systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Develop department-wide reporting analysis and identify merchandising trends and selling patterns at various time intervals (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.).
- Collaborate with merchandise planning teams to identify, design, and implement reporting tools on sales, margin, and inventory performance.
- Assist merchandise planning teams with developing forecast templates to create efficiencies and alternate hierarchy views of products.
- Develop reporting to assist with seasonal selling and event items to standardize analysis across merchandise planning and create efficiencies in forecasting of these items.
- Build data sets of all levels of complexity and size and sourced from multiple disparate systems to support the development of advanced analytics and dashboard reporting.
- Partner with a cross-functional team to maintain data breadth, depth, and accuracy across all merchandise planning systems.
- Develop ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested.
- Travel as needed to trade shows, vendor facilities, TSC store and DC tours, and off-site training.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 1-3 years’ experience in Retail Analytics or related business.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Finance or equivalent from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: None.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Extensive data collection and analysis experience.
- Skilled in MS Office Suite.
- Strong problem solving, communication, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
- Retail Experience preferred.
- Presentation Skills and cross functional team interaction.
- Work within critical deadlines and completing task with a sense of urgency.
- Detail oriented.
