Merchandising Business Systems Analyst
Overall Job Summary
The position involves managing Merchandising’s technology tools and aligning technology solutions with business objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of merchandising processes, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive system improvements and efficiencies. The role requires the creation of functional specifications for technical enhancements and ensuring data integrity by working closely with business and IT partners. A thorough understanding of organizational processes and software applications, as well as their interactions, is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
1. Be accountable for partnering with Merchandising stakeholders and IT teams to define business requirements and system and technology goals, as well as identify and resolve system issues
- Stay knowledgeable of application functionality, interfacing, and on-going enhancements for the purpose of analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing strategies for improving or further leveraging the business systems
- Provide training and support to end-users to ensure effective utilization of merchandising systems
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures in partnership with IT
- Build and support automated workflows across multiple platforms using VBA, C#, SQL, or other coding languages
- Act as the business’s lead role in design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes and information flow. Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and documentation to provide suggested direction to management, as well as identifying and reporting risks associated with all proposed solutions
- Meet with business partners, project managers, and vendor partners to determine project scope and vision, set system goals, identify and resolve system issues, and lead prioritization
- Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications to stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood
- Collaborate with IT to ensure workflows provide a positive user experience
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with IT and business users to fully understand business processes, challenges, and anticipate needs
- Support the Merchandising teams with new hire technology onboarding
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3-5 years combined experience as a business systems analyst with a focus on merchandising, business systems support, and/or project management in a retail environment. Position requires knowledge of Merchandising systems (space planning, floor planning, pricing, analytics, project management, SKU creation / maintenance, etc. Prefer experience with tools such as SPHQ, Blue Yonder Floor Planning, Relex, RetailGIS, MerchLogix, SAP, PowerBI, Alteryx, Snowflake, Business Objects
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a preferred degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Proficiency in merchandising systems, data analysis tools, and project management software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to create process flow charts for different merchandising systems
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong relationships with cross-functional teams
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Proficiency in data automation and visualization using tools such as Business Objects, SAP, Snowflake, Alteryx, PowerBI, SQL, VBA, C#, etc.
- Proficiency in ACAD or other architectural tools is preferred.
- Proficiency in a Microsoft Office, Access, Outlook, Word, Excel. PowerPoint
