Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for the financial accountability of products sold on line as it relates to sales, gross margin and inventory performance. This position will work closely with TSC store Buying Divisions to deliver on our strategic merchandising plans. This includes product selection, vendor negotiations, vendor relationships, vendor support funds, competitive analysis, developing specific marketing plans, website presentation and experience, price management, and defining a strategy business plan for each department. The Omni Merchant must work cross functionally with TSC Buying Divisions, Inventory Management, Planning, Marketing and within the Omni-Channel team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Merchandise & Financial Management - Oversight of specific product categories sold on-line and financial accountability for sales, gross margin dollars/rate and inventory performance. Development of a multi-year plan that supports a long tail of products to support endless aisle concept. Identify and prioritize vendor drop ship relative to the assigned merchandising division. Work closely with store merchandising management & buying teams in Attending Shows, Vendor Meetings and Divisional Meetings.
- Marketing - Communicate the strategic in-store events to the digital marketing team for homepage/email exposure. Ensure structured content is consistent for all products represented on line. Prioritize the opportunities for unstructured content such as ‘training videos & educational pages. Act as Merchant point of contact for brand landing pages. Provide direction for paid search & SEO opportunities.
- Strategic Planning - Responsible for the strategic merchandising direction on the website for an assigned merchandise division. Assists in the development and execution of the divisional merchandising initiatives. Develop 3 to 5-year e-Commerce business plans.
- Communication - Effectively lead open and concise communications to all levels of the company. Responsible for communicating the in-store & digital merchandising vision & strategy to vendors and internal team.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 6 years of Merchandising and/or Omni Channel experience.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Ability to create dynamic marketing and digital merchandising plans and clearly communicate and execute the vision.
- Ability to give presentations to large groups.
- Ability and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion.
- Ability to work overtime and travel when needed.
