Mgr, Leave of Absence
Overall Job Summary
The position is responsible for leading the administration and compliance of all leave of absence programs across Tractor Supply Company (TSC) for more than 50,000 Team Members in 49 states. This role provides leadership to a team of professionals and support staff, ensuring consistent and compliant execution of LOA policies, processes, and systems. The position will act as a subject matter expert and advisor to internal stakeholders and business leaders on LOA-related matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Oversee the daily end-to-end administration and compliance of all company leave programs (FMLA, ADAAA, Workers’ Compensation, Military Leave, Statutory Disability, Paid Family Leave, etc.).
- Manage multiple vendor relationships related to disability and LOA administration, ensuring performance standards and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws, and monitor changes in legislation for impact on company policy and processes.
- Develop strong partnerships with Legal, HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Risk to address complex LOA issues and ensure consistency in interpretation and application of policies.
- Review and refine LOA policies and practices in collaboration with leader.
- Monitor escalations and complex leave cases, acting as a point of resolution and guidance in collaboration with leader.
- Develop and conduct training for LOA team members and field HR partners on leave procedures, compliance, and systems use.
- Represent the LOA function in cross-functional HR and business projects to drive alignment and operational excellence.
- Provide reporting and analytics on leave data, including trending metrics, identifying key issues, and escalating as necessary.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports to present data-driven insights to management.
- Conduct data audits as necessary to ensure team member data accuracy between HRIS, timekeeping, and leave administration systems.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team including to ensure effective execution and continuous improvement of LOA operations.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5–7 years of progressive experience in LOA and/or benefits administration, including 2–3 years in a leadership role. Experience in leading teams, process improvement, and working with external LOA/ disability vendors is required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: CLMS preferred.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Expert knowledge of FMLA, ADAAA, Workers’ Compensation, and other relevant leave laws.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel.
- Advanced Excel and data analytics skills to support reporting and process improvement.
- Ability to manipulate data to expedite project analyses and completion.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills required.
- Interpersonal communication skills used effectively to foster a sense of approachability and compassion in dealing with sensitive and difficult Team Member life situations.
- Proficiency in HRIS and leave management systems (e.g., SAP, Kronos, UKG, ADP)
