Planner, Intl Transportation
Overall Job Summary
The Planner, International Transportation is responsible for planning, monitoring, and executing the cost-effective and timely movement of imported merchandise from origin through destination. This role partners with internal stakeholders, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, and other service providers to ensure international shipments move efficiently, meet purchase order requirements, and support Tractor Supply Company’s inventory and business objectives.
The Planner proactively monitors shipment activity, identifies and resolves transportation exceptions, analyzes freight costs and service performance, and provides accurate reporting and visibility to key stakeholders. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance transportation efficiency, visibility, service, and cost performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Develop and execute transportation plans for international shipments, balancing cost, capacity, transit time, and on-time performance.
- Monitor the movement of import shipments from origin through destination and proactively identify risks, delays, or service exceptions.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with freight forwarders, ocean carriers, and other transportation service providers to ensure established performance expectations are met.
- Investigate and resolve transportation issues and shipment exceptions, coordinating with internal and external partners as necessary.
- Analyze international transportation costs and identify opportunities to reduce expense, improve utilization, and achieve budget objectives.
- Communicate container flow, shipment status, and potential risks to internal stakeholders, with particular focus on time-sensitive and Event merchandise.
- Produce transportation reporting, forecasts, analyses, and performance metrics based on business needs.
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Inventory, Merchandising, Sourcing, Distribution, and other business areas to support the timely flow of imported merchandise.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3 years of logistics or international business experience.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Logistics, International Business, or a related field is preferred

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI.
