Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for being a DevOps change agent leading the development and delivery of Infrastructure services and automation to support enterprise operations for mission-critical infrastructure. Role includes responsibility for the design, development, and support of platforms to enable greater agility with fulfillment to accomplish company growth initiatives. Additional key responsibilities include technical thought leadership, DevOps enablement, training and coaching across teams to execute and deliver in a DevOps operating model.
Technologies in scope include public and private cloud technology platforms, PaaS, IaaS, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation tooling (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), CI/CD pipelines and shared-service applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Provide technical leadership to TSC’s Systems Infrastructure strategy to enable greater agility with fulfillment of Infrastructure services including working with other teams to enable end to end CI/CD pipelines.
- Design maintainable solutions to meet business and compliance requirements through code development using SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) methodology to ensure consistency, maintainability, and compliance.
- Identify and implement ongoing opportunities for system and process improvements.
- Maintain domain development standards complying with enterprise standards, ensuring solutions are optimally designed, secure, well performing and integrated with other solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technology for use across technical domains for delivering Infrastructure services.
- Develop technology transformation roadmaps and action plans to continually evolve and improve the technology estate.
- Subject Matter Expert in the discipline of Infrastructure automation and development.
- Document internal SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), processes, and training to ensure team members are successful in DevOps environment.
- Provide technical leadership and coaching of team members in DevOps transition journey.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years related work experience of increasingly technical Information Technology experience. 5+ years related work experience in DevOps utilizing SDLC agile methodology with various programming languages
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: Preferred Microsoft and Red Hat DevOps Certifications
High Demand IT Specialized skills: DevOps in Public and Private Cloud Environments
Platform knowledge (UNIX, Linux, Windows):
- Programming / Scripting Languages (e.g., Bash, KSH, PowerShell, PowerCLI, Perl, Python)
- Declarative Configuration Languages (Ansible, Terraform)
- Data Transfer Formats (JSON, YAML)
- Infrastructure Configuration/Automation (Ansible Tower, Terraform Enterprise, Puppet)
- Cloud services (Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Bluemix)
- Container Platform services (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker)
- CI/CD Pipeline & Repository tools (Bamboo, BitBucket, GitHub, Jenkins)
- Microsoft and Linux based Operating Systems
- Hyper-converged infrastructure systems (Azure Stack HCI, Nutanix AHV, Rancher Harvester, VMWare VxRail)
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Train in and independently create robust, scalable, and high-quality automation solutions for Infrastructure as code (IaC) software development.
- Develop, train and drive DevOps engineering practices across technical domains.
- Advanced knowledge of networking, server, and storage technologies and environments.
- Ability to comprehend business requirements to ensure technical directions are supportive.
- Advanced ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of innovative technologies.
- Excellent Analytical and Problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of business process re-engineering from lean principles to agile processes.
- Strong knowledge of open telemetry observability frameworks, pipelines, and publish/subscribe models.
- Ability to estimate the budgetary impact of technical architecture alternatives.
