Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of Tractor Supply Company’s workers compensation and non-subscriber programs at all worksites. Also, the position is responsible for developing, administering, and supervising partnerships among third party administrators, internal business partners, and external service providers. This position provides Workers Compensation guidance and assistance to all locations. Ensures Tractor Supply Company is compliant with state specific Workers’ Compensation regulations and its policies and guidelines. This position develops cost control procedures that impact Tractor Supply’s cost of risk. Serves as a team member advocate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Develops and implements Workers Compensation and Non Subscriber claim management strategy in coordination with Return-to-Work Program for operations in multi-states.
- Supports Critical Claim Decision Points (Reserving, Settlement, Defense Plans, etc.).
- Manages related Third Party Administrator (TPA) Programs including:
- Contract terms & costs,
- Claim handling specifications, and
- Achievement of outcome metrics.
- Communicates with the TPA adjusters on a daily basis to develop strategies and document a clear plan of action to closure on claims ensuring TPA is employing proper techniques to mitigate claims expense including, but not limited to consistent medical care, minimizes overutilization, litigation costs and all other vendors are effectively utilized to avoid unnecessary costs to the claim without adversely affecting the claim outcome.
- Facilitates delivery of all relevant documentation regarding work related incidents to Safety, Leave of Absence (LOA) and third-party administrators (TPA) to assist in the determination of compensability, recordability, and recording keeping requirements. This includes determining mechanism of injury, work restrictions, and managing the information related to work related injury/illness in RMIS.
- Reviews with Manager Corporate Claims higher-value reserves and settlements and collaborates on appropriate strategy.
- Stays current with Workers’ Compensation statutes in all jurisdictions Tractor Supply Company operates.
- Collaborates with Risk Management to formally tie claims management activities/lessons learned to injury prevention priorities, initiatives, and investments.
- Recommends safety modifications that support initiatives.
- Prepares status reports for Risk Management to submit to actuaries.
- Performs ongoing benchmarking to ensure claim related activities are relevant.
- Develops and facilitates WC Claims Management Training Program to all stakeholders as needed
- Ensures confidentiality of Workers’ Compensation claims records; including relevant health information related to the claim.
- Attends Workers’ Compensation workshops as required. .
- Support other special projects as needed
Required Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years experience in design and execution of analytical projects for business solutions using query and visualization tools. Experience in multi-state workers compensation claim adjusting or claim management.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

- Ability to deal effectively and professionally with adverse and difficult situations.
- General knowledge of OSHA record keeping
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel overnight as needed.
- Possesses sufficient knowledge of workers compensation insurance programs, processes, and claims management strategies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and analytical products including Excel and/or Analytic software, PowerPoint, and Word.
