Sr Admin, IT Middleware
Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for the oversight and technical expertise of middleware systems. The Sr. Administrator, Middleware provides technical guidance for installs and configuration of the middleware components, while working closely with architects/leads to develop documentation and administer the overall middleware environment. This position owns development plans associated with upgrades or patches, and mentors/guide’s more junior staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Drive the building of solutions, researching new technologies and advising the activities required to achieve desired goals
- Serves as point of escalation for troubleshooting, analysis and problem solving to drive solutions working closely with architects and leads in the middleware space
- Educate/convey information and statuses of environment to senior leadership and/or stakeholders.
- Work with leads/architects to catalog all middleware components and applications utilizing specific middleware components
- Partner with the middleware and application teams to achieve a common goal or to complete a task in the most effective and efficient way
- Collaborate with Lead/architects to define and articulate strategic roadmap for middleware solutions and vision across the application verticals
- Catalog all middleware components and applications utilizing specific middleware components
- Catalog middleware software versions / patch releases to ensure company compliant with latest software releases
- Mentoring and guiding other individuals in the middleware space
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5 years of Information Technology experience. 5 years of JBOSS and Apache and Kubernetes administration. Experience in retail industry developing, implementing, and managing Middleware solutions. Familiarity with Message Broker technologies (JMS, ActiveMQ, IBM MQ Series, etc.) is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related technical field. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Platform Knowledge (UNIX, Linux, Windows): Apache Tomcat, Apache Software Foundation
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Linux: Thorough knowledge of Linux or Unix-like computer operating system assembled under the model of free and open-source software development and distribution.
- Demonstrated experience with Apache Tomcat, often referred to as Tomcat Server. This is an open-source Java Servlet Container developed by the Apache Software Foundation (ASF).
- Kubernetes & Microservices: Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes & Microservices.
- JBoss Application Server: Demonstrated experience of JBoss Application Server. JBoss Application Server (JBoss AS) is an open-source, cross-platform Java application server developed by JBoss, a division of Red Hat Inc. JBoss AS is an open-source implementation of Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) that is used for implementing Java applications and other Web-based applications and software.
- Apache HTTP Server: Demonstrated experience of Apache HTTP Server, which is a free and open-source cross-platform web server (colloquially called Apache). Apache is developed and maintained by an open community of developers.
