Overall Job Summary
This position acts as the voice of innovation for the entire Store Operations organization, including Store Administration, Real Estate, Store Productivity, Loss Prevention, Direct Sales and Field Leadership, ensuring technology investments translate into measurable business outcomes. The position is responsible for driving efficiency, productivity, and improved performance through the strategic application of advanced analytics, automation, and smart technology across field leadership, store operations and real estate leadership.
The position leads efforts to modernize how Store Operations uses data and shapes the future of store operations through smart technology transformation — developing intuitive dashboards, predictive models, and automated reporting to empower field and operations leaders with timely, actionable insights. By embedding technology and automation into key operational processes, this position ensures Tractor Supply can make faster, smarter, and more consistent decisions that improve execution, enhance customer experience, and support profitable growth.
This position partners with senior leadership to redefine automation and predictive insights and cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Supply Chain, and Merchandising, to align operational analytics and technology initiatives with enterprise strategy, ensuring Store Operations remains data-informed, insight-driven, and operationally excellent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Drive Store Operations enterprise readiness for smart technology by developing operational frameworks, governance, and developing direct and indirect talent.
- Lead change management efforts for the adoption of analytics and automation tools across Store Operations.
Define, execute, and direct the automation roadmap for Store Operations, focusing on process simplification, improved accuracy, and faster decision-making. - Act as the Subject Matter expert for all related needs and processes for the Store Operations organization.
- Identify, develop and lead implementation of high-value use cases such as predictive planning, customer behavior forecasting, task automation, and store performance optimization for all Store Operations Departments and the Field.
- Develop and implement streamlined enterprise level reporting and dashboarding for all of store operations, including the Store Administration, Loss Prevention, Direct Sales, Store Productivity, and Real Estate teams using PowerBI, SQL, Python, and other advanced analytics platforms to deliver real-time insights to business leaders.
- Develop and oversee the creation of enterprise-level dashboards, reporting tools, and forecasting models using Power BI, SQL, and other advanced analytics platforms to deliver real-time insights to business leaders.
- Collaborate with enterprise technology and data governance teams to establish responsible business standards and ensure compliance with data governance practices.
- Serve as a key business advisor to senior leadership, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations based on advanced analytics, machine learning, and automation outcomes.
- Lead cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives that improve operational efficiency and field execution, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Facilitate and support annual strategic processes, including scenario modeling, budget alignment, and KPI tracking.
- Champion a data-driven culture by promoting data literacy, self-service analytics, and continuous process improvement across the Store Operations organization.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with at least 4 years in a retail environment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Finance, or a related field. Master’s in Business Administration, Analytics, or Technology Management preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills to interact with business leaders as well as to effectively manage team members.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies (RPA, GenAI, digital twins, prescriptive analytics).
- Executive storytelling and influence skills — ability to align non-technical leaders around digital initiatives.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts (predictive modeling, NLP, automation frameworks).
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion.
- Ability to develop and enforce policies and procedures.
Proficient in Microsoft Office. - Strong understanding of the financial aspects of the business and key operational metrics.
