Overall Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for leveraging advanced technology, automation, and modern accounting practices to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of the financial data. This role manages complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses using BlackLine, SAP, and automation tools like Alteryx and Snowflake. This position also provides guidance and leadership in accounting technology initiatives, internal controls, and reporting enhancements. With a focus on large data sets, the Senior Accountant will ensure data integrity and leverage automation to streamline financial processes and reporting.The Senior Accountant will be responsible for leveraging advanced technology, automation, and modern accounting practices to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of the financial data. This position also provides guidance and leadership in accounting technology initiatives, internal controls, and reporting enhancements. With a focus on large data sets, the Senior Accountant will ensure data integrity and leverage automation to streamline financial processes and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  1. Review and prepare complex allocations, accruals, and journal entries to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
  1. Lead the reconciliation process within BlackLine, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of account reconciliations in alignment with SAP data.
  2. Utilize and optimize automation and reporting tools, including Snowflake, Power BI, and Alteryx, to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting workflows.
  3. Leverage tools (Planning Analytics, Power BI, Business Objects, and SAP) to conduct in-depth data-driven analysis of the general ledger, identifying significant trends or variances, and provide detailed explanations.
  4. Establish and drive improvements in internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures in response to company growth, evolving accounting technology, and/or automation capabilities.
  5. Analyze and review financial information to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounts, such as general ledger accounts, income statements and balance sheets, to prepare detailed account reconciliations and to identify unusual trends or variances.
  6. Lead key initiatives with cross functional teams and clearly prioritize and communicate goals, milestones, and achievements.
  7. Advise, mentor, and provide feedback to entry level positions.
  8. Research and resolve inquiries from store support center (SSC) teams, store and field personnel, distribution center (DC) staff, and external vendors.
  9. Research and respond to inquiries from the Company’s internal and external Audit functions.

Collaborate and maintain relationships with teams external to the accounting function (e.g., FP&A, business partners) to ensure thorough understanding of current events that may impact areas.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience in industry accounting, public accounting, or internal auditing.
  • Experience in a retail environment, automation initiatives, and SAP financial systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Alteryx, Power BI, Planning Analytics, or Tableau is a plus but not required.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of SEC requirements, GAAP and new accounting pronouncements.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion
