Overall Job Summary

The Sr. Category Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and leading flawless execution of strategies and initiatives supporting key promotions, product categories and brands that align with Tractor Supply’s overall strategic plan.  This role will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, managing 3rd party agencies and collaborating with internal and external partners to achieve business goals.  This role will also work with Marketing and Merchandising leaders as well as leaders of several other departments.  This role will be expected to develop and persuasively communicate their point of view based on experience leveraging a variety of marketing channels (digital, social, email, store POP, print, TV/radio, public relations, experiential events, etc.) and a functional understanding of the overall retail business.  The individual should be adept at influencing and motivating others and a drive for measurable results.  This individual must also be able to work under time pressure and be flexible to work on varying tasks as needed.   

The Sr. Category Marketing Manager will be responsible for:
•    Converting data based insights into actionable plans 
•    Presenting/aligning those plans with leadership
•    Tactical alignment with channel owners 
•    Clear creative direction with internal and external creative partners
•    Field operational alignment
•    Managing executional details from development to deployment
•    Compile and communicate results, 
•    Interpreting and optimizing programs based on results
  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Lead strategy development, internal socialization and cross-functional execution of marketing programs for key brands, categories and services, determining appropriate integrated marketing support plan inclusive of CRM, digital, social, in-store environment, internal communication and budget.
  • Ensure flawless execution of tactical elements of marketing programs, including setting up promotional elements, working collaboratively with various Marketing teams, ensuring communication to store team, communication with vendors, keeping leaders informed, etc.
  • Lead national events for key categories and brands; examples include Chick Days, Farmers Market, Military Discount Events, PAW, and other national merchandising events developed.
  • Partner heavily with Merchants and TSC Leadership to ensure programs align with and support business priorities; report out on results and learnings.
  • Leverage internal resources and external partners for programs in order to provide the maximum return to the organization.  Hold them accountable for results.  External partners may include:  Advertising agencies, PR agencies, Print Suppliers, media agencies, packaging vendors, consultants
  • Proactively work with key vendor partners to fully leverage vendor assets and funds.
  • May perform other duties as assigned *
     

Required Qualifications

Experience:  Minimum 7-10 years marketing experience with multi-channel marketing initiatives.  Retail marketing experience preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Advertising or equivalent preferred.  Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

•    Knowledge & Experience:  Experience building plans utilizing several marketing channels, including:  email, digital, social & influencers, store environment, website, printed circulars, public relations, creative development and production for a variety of media, etc.; has worked in a retail marketing environment before

Sets direction and expectations and delegates appropriately, demonstrating confidence in team to deliver
•    Model TSC values to create positive, productive work environment.  
•    Speak, read and write effectively in the English language
•    Skilled in MS Power Point, Excel and Word
