Strategic Sourcing Manager
Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for the oversight on all aspects of Strategic Sourcing. This position will be the team leader in all sourcing initiatives, while still being responsible for hands on sourcing in a designated area for Tractor Supply Company. This position is responsible for leading the sourcing team to drive for best cost/quality/execution sourcing worldwide. Working closely with Buyers, Planners, Imports, Logistics, Transportation, Vendors, Quality Assurance and Marketing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Support the Product Development team by finding the best value (cost, quality and execution) factories
- Support the merchant team by assuring impeccable execution of all imports and domestic
- Driving the program from production planning through delivery.
- Track continuous improvement in cost, quality and lead times
- Leading the timeline management and execution process on all programs to achieve objectives.
- Partner with internal and external stake holders including, Product Development, Agents, Factories, Imports, Logistics, Inventory, QC and Merchants taking responsibility for assuring timely execution and issue resolution.
- Drive the production and contingency planning process.
- Assure timeliness, completion and accuracy of vendor and sku set up, audit, testing and QC
- Expedite resolution on all items that could hold up delivery.
- Contribute and attend all team, department, division, and corporate meetings representing and communicating on behalf of strategic sourcing including but not limited to: DMM, Buyer, PD tracker, Event Tracker, MIC walks, Imports, QA, Logistics, Sourcing, Agent, and factory as needed
- Develop expertise in the internal and external systems necessary to do the strategic sourcing job efficiently and utilize them to measure, monitor, report and execute efficiently. (Clear Track, SAP, Business objects, Expeditors, PLM, PIM. Government web sites, agent reporting systems)
- Understand and communicate on worldwide sourcing for designated categories.
- Monitor, organize and communicate on country trends, regulations, duties, exchange rates, labor rates, source of supply and relevant raw material’s availability and costs.
- Monitor and gain understanding of raw materials, components and manufacturing processes and prices for designated area
- Work with Agents and Director to find of suppliers to support the development on the PD Tracker.
- Support the on boarding of new factories and agents
- Support the Director in leading and maintaining the factory and agent relationship, negotiations, bid/rebid process and execution including set up, tracking, and maintaining systems and reporting.
- Research, maintenance and organization of sourcing data for PD tracker, factory/supplier library, samples/cost quotes/PPDs, clear track, and sourcing tracker
- Participate in tactical meetings with vendors and manufacturers to develop strategy and business partnerships
- Supporting the development of Annual 3-year strategy
- Pulling together reporting information needed for analyses, decision making, and Strategy preparation
- Training of new or more team members
- Developing and on boarding new, more efficient processes
- Others as assigned by Director
Required Qualifications
Experience: 6+ years of experience in sourcing/product development.
Education: Bachelor degree in sourcing related field or relevant experience equivalent. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Experience and understanding of manufacturing. Component costing. Experience with factories, molds and production process. Experience with worldwide sourcing and travel
- Prefer: In-depth experience with retail sourcing and product development operation for omni-channel large scale retailer
- Prefer: Experience and understanding of QA/QC process and testing
- Prefer: Experience working with overseas travel, offices and agents
- Plan and organize trip and travel as needed both domestic and overseas.
- Coordinate with Agents, Sourcing, PD, Merchants, QA and Factories. Assure well thought out productive goals that relate directly to the short and long term priorities of the department as indicated by Director
