Overall Job Summary
The Facility Maintenance Supervisor provides leadership and direction for the Maintenance Team at Tractor Supply Company’s Automated Distribution Center. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all automated systems, material handling equipment (MHE), and facility infrastructure.
This role partners Operations, Safety, and Engineering Teams to minimize downtime, improve system reliability, and support the overall success of the distribution center. The Facility Maintenance Supervisor directly supports Tractor Supply’s mission to deliver legendary service and keep our stores — and our customers — supplied for Life Out Here.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Lead, train, and mentor Maintenance Technicians, building a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety.
- Plan and assign daily work orders, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Support the technical development of Team Members through ongoing coaching and training.
- Promote adherence to all TSC safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for all automation, robotics, conveyors, and sortation systems.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
- Partner with OEM vendors and integrators to resolve technical challenges and improve reliability.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed in the CMMS and monitor performance metrics to reduce downtime.
- Supervise maintenance of facility systems including HVAC, lighting, fire protection, and utilities.
- Coordinate contractors for specialized repairs and capital improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with inspection, maintenance, and documentation standards in respect to local and national codes (OSHA; EPA; NFPA).
- Support the development and management of the maintenance department’s budget and spare parts inventory.
- Lead or participate in root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency gains, and process improvements across the operation.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5 + years of maintenance experience in an automated or high-volume distribution environment. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in maintenance or technical operations
Education: Associate’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Any combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications:
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Working knowledge of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred), robotics, conveyors, and control systems.
- Experience with CMMS tools (e.g., Maintenance Connection, SAP PM, Maximo).
- Proficiency with electrical systems (up to 480V), pneumatics, hydraulics, controls, and mechanical repairs.
- Ability to work as a team and to work independently, positively handle conflict, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Project, AutoCAD, and other related software).
- Must be proficient in English (spoken and written)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, service, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work some nights and weekends
- Normal office working conditions
- Required to work in a physical environment that is subject to temperature extremes, movement of mobile and fixed equipment, possible exposure to hazardous products, dust and other conditions associated with a warehouse operation
- Duties include frequent alternate standing, walking, bending, stooping, and sitting, throughout the course of the shift
