Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for the management of stores through the District Managers, field personnel, and the accomplishment of specific financial and operational goals including volume growth, expense management and P&L. This position directs and coordinates the stores and District Managers in achieving company goals and objectives including standards in customer service, store merchandising, visual presentation, and facilities maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Supervise and manage a field organization of 8 to 13 District Managers and 80 to 160 stores.
- Provide for the development of subordinates, specifically the identification and development of field management through goals, the performance review process, succession planning, coaching, training and mentoring.
- Lead the stores’ organization to meet/beat daily/monthly/annual sales forecasts and store expense and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) budgets.
- Create, implement and execute programs, business practices, policies and procedures to support customer-centric culture and maximize sales, EBIT, store operations, customer satisfaction and the total customer shopping experience in stores.
- Supervise the development of annual financial plans for the stores’ organization by district/by store.
- Develop and approve budgets for direct expenses and achievement of expense budgets.
- Work with the construction and facilities to ensure stores are minimally shop worn, safe, clean and properly lit.
- Make decisions on field supervisory team/organization and the handling of customer complaints and issues.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Extensive retail experience in operations, merchandising, and personnel development required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Substantial experience in a multi-unit retail environment preferred.
- Demonstrated record of achieving financial performance objectives and over-coming operations challenges in a competitive and customer-centric work environment.
- Experience in multiple disciplines – financial planning and control (budgeting, P&L, cost control, labor modeling), customer-centric focus, store visual merchandising, personnel development.
- Demonstrated high level of understanding of technology application in retail operations such as POS, inventory management control, events management, sales tracking, P & L, store labor management and reporting.
- Ability and proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office products.
- Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion.
