Overall Job Summary
The Inventory Control Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management within the distribution center to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards. This role leads inventory control processes, coordinates physical counts and audits, and works closely with cross-functional teams including warehouse, logistics, procurement, and quality assurance. This role will develop and implement strategies to minimize stock variances, optimize storage capacity, and support high levels of order fulfillment and customer satisfaction. Strong analytical skills, leadership, and attention to detail are essential to maintain optimal inventory performance and support the overall supply chain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Lead IC SUP and Slotting SUP, and lead hourly IC TM’s and Slotting Leads
- Directly responsible for DPM and Fill Rate of the Organization
- Responsible for all matters related to shrink (process, goals, reporting)
- Responsible for High Dollar research and establishing process improvement
- Responsible to SOX counts, unallocatable reporting and process improvement within organization.
- Manage and lead team to effectively drive metrics associated with organizational slotting to drive efficiency and quality improvement.
- Perform audits or inspections to identify inventory accuracy, shrink reduction, vulnerabilities and establish building level improvement plans to address the vulnerabilities.
- Conduct training on all shrink reduction related topics to provide the facility with an educated and aware team member base to support inventory shrinkage.
- Create and implement shrink reduction initiatives that target compliance, shrink drivers utilizing an analytical approach through review of injury data, incident investigations.
- Develop annual building shrink reduction plan/goals and ensure all levels of management and team members are meeting expectations to achieve desired results
- Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and physical inventories
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, stock variances, and shrinkage.
- Collaborate with department Operations Managers in Receiving, LDPA, Orderfill, Shipping, Safety Security and Transportation to ensure inventory integrity.
- Generate reports on inventory metrics (e.g. inventory turnover, accuracy, adjustments)
- Ensure proper use of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) or ERP software
- Maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
- Measure quality, inventory integrity, and accuracy while providing proactive feedback to the operations management team.
- Ensure root causes are identified, documented, and addressed with effective improvement.
- Conduct and oversee quality assurance audits, creating detailed reports on deficiencies, ASN compliance, and load quality.
- Collaborate with SSC partners, vendors, and Ops Managers to maintain inventory accuracy and vendor compliance within the DC.
- Establish strategies to accomplish inventory and process improvement goals, including slotting and location strategies
Required Qualifications
Experience: 4-6 years’ experience with at least 2 years’ experience in warehouse environments including loss prevention, operations, safety, inventory control, or internal audit is required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: None.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, public speaking, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to be on call to handle emergencies related to alarm issues, internal theft cases, disaster responses, etc.
- Ability to work 2nd and 3rd shifts when required by business needs.
